• A member of the U.S. Armed Forces (or their spouse/child)
• An applicant for the immigrant investor visa (EB-5)
• A person who is eligible for a Special Immigrant visa as an Afghan/Iraqi translator or a U.S. government employee (or their spouse/child)
• An asylum seeker or refugee
• A person deemed essential for law enforcement objectives, national interests, or the fight against COVID-19 (e.g. physicians, researchers, etc.)
• The spouse or child of a healthcare professional, medical researcher, or any other individual whose work is critical in combating COVID-19
• The spouse or child of a U.S. citizen

The ban also does not influence nonimmigrant cases. If you are applying for (or already received) a temporary visa, the executive order will not affect your eligibility or status.

At the end of the 60 days, the Trump administration may extend the ban, but no information is currently available that indicates whether they intend to do so. Halfway through the ban, they will also consider whether to add nonimmigrants to the ban. Ultimately, predicting exactly what the administration will do in response to COVID-19 is impossible—but the sooner you act, the better chance you will have of avoiding future obstacles and delays.
